Roland Baldi Architects

Over the years Roland Baldi Architects has developed a recognisable architectural language: simple but different. The office covers a wide range of projects that differ in scale, context and function. Beyond project-related research and planning, the office participates actively, critically and reflectively in current debates on contemporary architecture, art and design.

1st Prize: Pardelwiesen – Verdone Barracks

Our proposal for “Pardelwiesen – Verdone Barracks” in Varna (South Tyrol, IT) has been awarded 1st prize! The project envisions an inclusive residential district shaped by landscape, community, and the adaptive reuse of the existing barracks. A wide range of housing typologies for all generations, a generous forest belt with community gardens, and a fully walkable and bike-friendly mobility network form the basis of a climate-responsive timber development with high-quality, flexible public spaces. The jury praised “a clear spatial structure with a strong ecological identity and high-quality, flexible public spaces.” A big thank you to our partners Ingena, Heiner Schweigkofler, and our entire interdisciplinary team: Mattia Michieletto, Carlo Scolari, Marco Molon, Christian Sölva, Lorenzo Bertolotto, Nicoletta Cristiani, Rudi Bertagnolli, Daniel Larcher.
